About

Hi! I’m Dwight Peters, founder/host of QuarterWaters.com!

I am a Social Entrepreneur, Public Speaker, Activist, Beat maker/Producer (I LOVE MY MPC!!!!)…

My mission is to inspire people to change the world!

I’m just a guy from New York City, who envisions changing the world by joining a great community of thinkers and doers.

My Story

While a student at Bronx Community College I served as President of the Student Government Association and  the President of the Political Science Club (We Rocked!!!). My major was Political Science, and I really had a passion for improving the lives of not only the people in my community, but also everybody in the world. Big ambition right?!

I have both led and participated in lots of rallies, sit-ins ,and protests. As the President of the SGA, my team and I fought against budget cuts, tuition hikes, and other social injustices. I have a big mouth so I always speak out against any injustices that I see.

“Are you being effective?”

As you can see from the video above, I can be loud. But one day, an administrator at my college pulled me to the side and said, “Dwight, I love your passion and I love your energy. You remind me of myself when I was your age… You are leading rallies and getting everybody worked up; But are you really being effective? Your tuition is still going to go up, people are still going to suffer from injustices. There is a difference between being loud and being effective. Which one are you?”

I didn’t know what to say, she had me stumped. For once, I had to sit back and question my tactics. Not too long after, I came across some Social Entrepreneurs, who started businesses to combat serious social issues. I thought it was too good to be true! I think that conversation with the administrator was the best thing that ever happened to me. It set me on my journey to become a Social Entrepreneur.

The Greatest Graduation Speech Ever!!!!

Not too long after that conversation, I was given the opportunity to speak at my graduation :)

One word describes the feeling I got from that…
 AWESOME!!!!!!!

After graduation I decided I was going to find the most effective change makers around, learn from them, and then spread the word.

QuarterWaters?

So I knew what I was going to do, I had it all figured it out. I was going to make a website, interview social entrepreneurs, and share this information with as many people as I possibly can.

Hmmm…. but first I need a name for my website.

SocialEntrepreneurs.com,

GenYEntrepreneurs.com,

MakeAChangeThroughBusiness.com…

I wasn’t really excited about any of the domain names I was throwing around. I wanted something different, unique and easy to remember because it was so weird.

Then I remembered my childhood. Back when we were kids, my brother (Marlon, those were the days man!) and I would receive an allowance. We would always run to the corner store, when our mother wasn’t around, and buy the same two items each and every time! Sour Power and Quarter Waters, oh yeah!

For that moment in time, when mom wasn’t around lol, we had the power to make our own decisions. We had the power to choose. We had the power to control our own destinies!

Yeah yeah yeah, I know, it sounds a little over dramatic. But as two kids buying candy we felt powerful!

I decided to name this site QuarterWaters.com, because I want to bring everybody back to that moment of their childhood where it was ok to dream. Through this site, I want you to believe again that you can change the world, because the truth is that you actually can. I want  need you to dream big, and hopefully you will learn how to make your dream become a reality on QuarterWaters.com

Lets have an impact on the world!

As an activist I have always looked for the best way to bring about change. To my surprise I stumbled across the power of business. Social Entrepreneurs are the most creative people on Earth, as they develop sustainable organizations that improve the environment and/or enhance the lives of others. I love that.

So I decided to sit down and talk with some of the most successful Social Entrepreneurs around. I want to introduce you to them so you can learn how they think; how they act; what motivates them and most importantly, how they became successful. I want you to hear their amazing stories because I know once you have heard them, like myself, you will be inspired to join these amazing and courageous Social Entrepreneurs in changing the world.
